How We Collect Personal Information

Why We Use Personal Information

We limit collection, use, and retention to purposes that are reasonably necessary and proportionate to the service, disclosed purpose, legal requirement, or another compatible business purpose.

How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients when needed for the purposes described above:

Halo does not sell personal information for money. Some disclosures involving advertising or analytics cookies may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. Where required, we provide a method to opt out and process applicable browser-based opt-out preference signals.

Payments and Afterpay

Deposits and other payments may be processed by third-party payment services. If you choose Afterpay, you interact with a separate provider that evaluates the transaction and controls its approval, available amount, schedule, and terms.

Review the Halo payment process before choosing a method.

Halo may receive information needed to match and administer the transaction, such as your name, contact details, invoice, amount, transaction identifier, approval or payment status, and limited fraud or dispute information. Halo does not control the independent information Afterpay collects directly from you or how Afterpay makes its decision.

Information collected directly by Afterpay is governed by the Afterpay privacy information. Do not send complete card or bank credentials through a general Halo form, email, or text message.

Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies

The website may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, server logs, and similar technologies. These tools can support:

You can control many cookies through the website consent tool, when available, and through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect forms or site functions. Browser controls do not necessarily remove information already collected.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. Because there is no single industry response that applies to every service, the website may not respond to a traditional Do Not Track header in the same way across all technologies.

Where California law requires it, Halo treats a qualifying opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out of sale or sharing for the browser or device sending the signal. If the signal cannot be linked to a known customer record, it applies to browser-based processing that Halo can reasonably associate with that signal.

Third parties may collect information about website activity over time and across different websites when their technologies are active. Cookie controls, privacy-choice links, and browser settings may limit that activity.

California Online Privacy Disclosures

The California Online Privacy Protection Act requires a commercial website that collects personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a privacy policy describing the categories collected, categories of recipients, change process, effective date, and online tracking disclosures.

The official statutory requirements are available in California Business and Professions Code Section 22575.

California Consumer Privacy Rights

If Halo is subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act for the relevant processing, California residents may have the following rights, subject to verification, exceptions, and the scope of the law:

The California Privacy Protection Agency and the California Attorney General explain these rights, applicability thresholds, request methods, and response periods.

These rights are not absolute. Halo may need to verify identity, request additional information, retain records required for a move or transaction, protect security, comply with law, or deny a request that falls within an exception. Halo will explain the basis for a denial when required.

Categories Collected and Disclosed in the Preceding 12 Months

Depending on customer and website activity, Halo may have collected the categories listed below during the preceding 12 months. Halo may disclose these categories for business purposes to the recipient categories described in this policy.

California category Examples and business-purpose disclosure
Identifiers Name, email, telephone, address, IP address, and transaction identifiers disclosed to communication, hosting, scheduling, payment, security, and operational providers.
Customer-record information Contact, service, billing, and payment information used for quotes, bookings, service, records, and support.
Commercial information Quotes, services requested, transaction history, inventory, storage, and claims records.
Internet or electronic activity Site interactions, device data, cookies, referral data, and analytics used for operation, security, measurement, and advertising where enabled.
Geolocation information Pickup and delivery addresses, approximate device location, route, and access data used to quote and perform the move.
Audio, electronic, or visual information Calls where recorded with required notice, photographs, videos, walkthroughs, inventories, and claim evidence.
Professional information Employer, company, title, office-move, property-manager, vendor, or business-contact information.
Inferences Service interests or likely moving needs inferred from inquiries or website interactions.
Sensitive personal information Precise location, financial or account-related information, identification, or message content when needed for service, verification, payment, security, or legal compliance.

Halo does not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about a person. Halo does not knowingly sell personal information for money. Advertising and analytics disclosures may qualify as sharing under California law when the legal definition applies.

How to Submit a Privacy Request

To request access, correction, deletion, or another applicable privacy choice, contact Halo using either method below:

Describe the right you want to exercise and provide enough information to identify the relevant record. Do not send a Social Security number, complete payment-card number, password, or other unnecessary sensitive information.

Halo may verify the request by matching information already maintained, confirming control of an email address or telephone number, asking about the related quote or move, or requesting signed authorization for an agent. Verification information is used only to process and document the request.

If the CCPA applies, Halo will follow the confirmation and response periods required by law. Requests may be denied or limited when identity cannot be verified, an exception applies, the request is excessive or fraudulent, or disclosure would create a security risk.

Authorized Agents

An authorized agent may submit a California privacy request on your behalf. Halo may require proof that the agent has written permission and may ask you to verify your identity directly unless a valid power of attorney applies.

Communication Choices

Operational calls, emails, and text messages may be necessary to prepare a quote, confirm access, schedule the crew, manage payment, coordinate pickup or delivery, and provide customer support.

You may opt out of marketing email through the unsubscribe link or by contacting Halo. You may opt out of marketing text messages by following the instructions in the message. A marketing opt-out does not stop necessary service or transaction communications.

Data Retention

Record type Retention criteria
Quote requests While the quote is active and for a limited period afterward to answer follow-up questions, prevent duplicate work, measure service demand, and maintain business records.
Customer and move records For the customer relationship and the period needed for contracts, delivery, customer service, claims, disputes, insurance, tax, and legal requirements.
Payment records For transaction administration and the accounting, tax, fraud, chargeback, and legal periods that apply. Payment providers retain their own records under their policies.
Photos and walkthroughs Until the quote, move, claim, or dispute no longer reasonably requires them, unless a longer period is required by law or authorized by the customer.
Communications For as long as needed to provide service, document instructions or consent, manage disputes, maintain records, and comply with law.
Marketing preferences Until consent is withdrawn or the record is no longer needed, with suppression records retained as necessary to honor opt-outs.
Website and security data According to configured analytics, cookie, security, and server-log periods, with shorter periods used when practical.
Privacy requests For the period needed to document the request, verification, response, and legal compliance.

Security

Halo uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed for the nature of the information and business. Measures may include access controls, secure transmission, account controls, vendor requirements, backups, monitoring, and incident-response procedures.

No website, email, text message, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure. Customers should use the designated payment process and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information through general communication channels.

Children

The website and moving services are not directed to children under 13. Halo does not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 through the website. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information may contact Halo to request review and deletion, subject to applicable law.

Third-Party Websites and Social Media

The website may link to social networks, payment services, map services, government resources, or other third-party websites. Halo does not control their privacy, security, cookies, or content. Review the policy of the service you choose to use.

Changes to This Policy

Halo may update this policy when its services, vendors, technology, or legal obligations change. The current version will show a new “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how information is collected, used, or disclosed, Halo will provide additional notice when required.
