Halo by California Movers USA answers the questions customers ask before, during, and after a move. Use this page to understand quotes, pricing, deposits, payment options, packing, protection, storage, local moves, and interstate service.
Every move is different, but the process should be clear. Your written quote controls the booked scope, pricing model, included services, and payment terms for your job.
Need a price for your move? Request a moving quote or call (415) 579-2747.

Tell us the pickup and delivery addresses, moving date, home size, inventory, access details, and services you need. Halo uses that information to prepare a starting quote and determine what must be verified before booking.
We need the items being moved, origin and destination, stairs, elevators, parking, walking distance, building rules, packing needs, specialty items, extra stops, and storage requirements. Missing access or inventory details can change the work required.
A starting quote may be returned quickly after you submit the basic move details. It is not a substitute for inventory and access verification. The written quote is completed after the company has enough information to define the job.
The first response may be a starting quote. The final written quote identifies the confirmed inventory, route, access, services, pricing model, and deposit. Review that document before booking.
A video walkthrough is useful when the inventory, property access, or specialty items cannot be confirmed through a short form. It lets the estimator see furniture, stairs, elevators, hallways, and other conditions that affect the plan.
Yes. An onsite inspection can be arranged when a physical review is the best way to confirm inventory, access, or handling requirements.
Book as soon as your date and move details are reasonably clear. Month-end dates, weekends, summer dates, building reservations, and long-distance schedules may fill earlier than flexible weekday moves.
Same-day service depends on crew, truck, route, and access availability. Contact the same-day moving team with the complete inventory and timing so Halo can check what is possible.
Yes. A deposit is required to reserve the moving date, crew, and truck. The written payment terms show the amount due and how it applies to the booking.
Ask the company as soon as possible. A date change depends on availability and may require an updated booking confirmation. The original crew or time window cannot be guaranteed for a new date.
Send the revised inventory before moving day. Added furniture, boxes, packing, stops, or specialty items may change the time, crew, equipment, or flat-rate scope. Halo should document the change before performing added work whenever possible.
A sales specialist prepares the scope, a dispatcher coordinates the schedule, and a lead foreman manages the onsite crew. The company remains the point of contact throughout the move.

The standard local package is $175 per hour for two movers and a truck. The quote confirms whether that package fits the inventory, access, distance, and requested services.
The standard package includes two movers, a truck, labor, and the standard service inclusions confirmed in the written scope. Larger or more complex moves may require a different crew or plan.
Hourly pricing is used when time is the clearest way to measure the work, usually for suitable local moves. Billable time and the start and end points must be stated in the quote.
Flat pricing is used when Halo can define the inventory, route, access, services, and job requirements in advance. The approved price covers the written scope.
The confirmed package can include the truck, crew, travel expenses within the scope, furniture disassembly and reassembly, furniture and mattress protection, property protection, wardrobe boxes for use during the move, dispatch, and customer support.
Halo does not add a charge simply because the truck is loaded or the move is underway. A price may change when the requested scope changes, such as added inventory, packing, stops, storage, destination, or previously undisclosed access.
A scope change means the requested work no longer matches the written plan. Review the difference between a quote and a scope change in the pricing policy.
For a household move inside California, the Bureau of Household Goods and Services requires a Not-to-Exceed price: the maximum you can be charged for the agreed work. It changes only through a Change Order for Moving Services that you request and approve. A change order cannot be used because the mover underestimated the job.
On a non-binding interstate estimate, FMCSA generally limits what a mover may require at delivery to 110% of the estimate for the listed services and quantities. Remaining lawful charges may be billed afterward under federal rules. A binding estimate works differently and sets the price for the listed shipment and services. Both are explained on the pricing page.
The deposit is collected during booking to reserve the date, crew, and truck. The invoice or checkout shows the amount and accepted method before payment.
The written payment terms explain how the deposit applies to the move. Review the invoice before paying and ask about any term that is unclear.
Halo accepts the payment methods available through its current invoicing and checkout systems. The customer receives the supported options before completing payment.
Eligible customers may use Afterpay for an approved part of the balance. The complete deposit and four-payment process is explained on the payment page.
No. Afterpay assesses the transaction and controls the approval, available amount, payment schedule, and current terms shown in its app.
Afterpay reviews the customer and decides both eligibility and the available amount, and credit history is part of that review. Halo does not make that decision and cannot promise approval or a set limit. Check Afterpay’s current terms in its app for how it reviews credit before you accept a plan.
If Afterpay approves only part of the balance, Halo may accept the remaining amount through another supported payment method. The invoice and checkout determine the available combination.

A local move is priced and planned within the applicable local service area. Review the service and included work on the local moving page.
Yes. A same-building move still requires an inventory, access review, elevator or stair details, and a confirmed time window.
Yes. Apartment moving may require elevator reservations, loading access, parking planning, certificates of insurance, and protection for shared areas.
Yes. The residential moving service can cover houses, condominiums, studios, and multi-room homes.
Yes. A short-distance move may still require the same inventory, protection, parking, and building planning as a longer local move.
Yes. Office moving is planned around business access, equipment, furniture, elevators, loading rules, and the operating schedule.
Yes. Tell us the elevator dimensions, reservation window, loading location, and property requirements before booking.
Halo can provide insurance documentation when a building requires it, subject to the actual policy and property requirements. Send the building template and deadline before moving day.
They can affect crew time, equipment, and the flat-rate scope. Include the number of flights and approximate distance from the door to the truck during the quote.
The customer should disclose building and street restrictions. Halo reviews the truck and loading plan, while permits or building reservations must be assigned clearly before the move.

A long-distance move covers a route where inventory, mileage, access, timing, and destination conditions are better handled through a defined plan rather than a simple local-hour calculation.
Long-distance describes the scale and planning of the route. Interstate means the shipment crosses a state line and is subject to the rules applicable to interstate household-goods transportation.
Yes. The interstate moving service covers qualifying moves from California to another state.
The flat-rate plan considers the confirmed inventory, mileage, origin and destination access, packing, specialty items, stops, storage, delivery requirements, and timing.
The inventory determines the shipment size, truck space, labor, protection, packing, and handling plan. A major inventory change can change the flat-rate scope.
Halo does not subcontract its moving crews. The written interstate documents identify the carrier and service terms for the shipment.
The written plan explains the pickup date or window and the delivery expectations. Route conditions, distance, access, and applicable transportation rules can affect timing.
Yes, when those services are included in the confirmed scope. Packing and storage affect inventory handling, timing, and price, so they should be added before booking.
Customers can review the state-to-state moving hub for California routes to other states.
Yes. The San Francisco to Los Angeles route is planned around inventory, access at both properties, mileage, stops, and requested services.
Yes. Review the planning factors for a San Francisco to San Diego move.
Yes. A California to Washington move requires verified inventory, interstate documents, and a clear pickup and delivery plan.

Yes. Packing services can cover the complete home or another confirmed part of the inventory.
Yes. Tell the estimator which rooms, cabinets, fragile items, or categories need help so labor and materials can be planned.
Yes. Glassware, artwork, mirrors, electronics, and other fragile items can be identified as a separate packing scope.
Packing materials can be included according to the confirmed service. Review available packing supplies before the quote is finalized.
Yes. Close and label owner-packed boxes before the crew arrives. Keep medications, documents, keys, cash, jewelry, and irreplaceable personal items with you.
The estimator should identify these items before moving day. The crew uses the protection and handling method assigned in the confirmed plan.
The standard service includes wardrobe boxes for use during the move. The crew collects them at the end, and a wardrobe box is charged only if the customer keeps it.
Unpacking and detailed setup must be included in the quote. Standard placement and furniture reassembly do not automatically mean that every box will be unpacked.
Do not pack hazardous, illegal, perishable, or restricted materials without written confirmation. Keep personal documents, medication, keys, valuables, and essential items with you.

Yes. The furniture moving service can cover one item, several rooms, deliveries, or furniture that needs disassembly.
Yes, for approved furniture within the confirmed scope. Tell the estimator about complex, built-in, damaged, or specialty pieces before booking.
Yes. Appliance moving requires the appliance dimensions, condition, connection status, stairs, and access details.
Unless the written scope says otherwise, appliances should be disconnected, drained, and ready for safe handling before the crew arrives. Halo does not perform licensed utility work unless specifically authorized and qualified.
Yes. Piano moving requires the piano type, dimensions, stairs, turns, entrances, and destination access.
Yes. Event and special moves are quoted according to the equipment, venue access, timing, and handling plan.
Yes. Tell Halo about artwork, antiques, collections, electronics, instruments, and other high-value items before accepting the quote. This allows the company to explain packing, handling, documentation, and protection options.

Yes. Halo uses trained in-house employees. Learn more about the team and operating model on the About Us page.
No. Halo does not book the customer and then assign the physical move to an unknown outside crew.
Yes. Movers complete background checks and company training before working as part of the moving crew.
A lead foreman manages the crew, reviews the confirmed plan, directs loading and placement, and serves as the primary onsite contact.
Finish owner packing, separate essentials, confirm building access, reserve elevators, clear walkways, identify items that are not moving, and keep documents, medication, keys, and valuables with you.
The crew uses floor, wall, hallway, door, and elevator protection according to the property and confirmed scope.
The foreman reviews the scope, access, inventory, and items requiring special handling. Raise any change before loading begins.
The customer or authorized representative directs room placement. The crew reassembles approved furniture and completes the confirmed scope before the foreman closes the job.

Halo by California Movers USA operates under CAL-T203846 and maintains company insurance for its moving operation. That licensing and insurance cover the business; the valuation you elect for your own shipment is a separate choice and appears in your move documents.
No. Valuation is the carrier liability level that applies to the shipment. Insurance is a separate product or policy. The available options and terms depend on whether the move is within California or interstate.
It is the most limited liability option. On an interstate move it is set at 60 cents per pound per article, so a heavy inexpensive item and a light valuable one are treated the same way. Do not assume it equals what the item is worth. The exact election, amount, and exclusions must appear in your moving documents, and a move inside California follows the terms in those documents rather than the interstate figure.
Full-value protection generally means the carrier may repair, replace, or make a cash settlement for a covered item under the elected terms, deductibles, exclusions, and declared-value rules. Review the written option before selecting it.
Yes. Federal household-goods rules apply to covered interstate shipments. Customers can review consumer guidance from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
List them before the quote is finalized and complete any required high-value inventory or valuation documentation. Keep purchase records, appraisals, serial numbers, and photographs when available.
Notify Halo promptly, preserve the item and packaging, take photographs, and provide the move documents and item information requested for the claim. Do not discard or repair the item before receiving instructions.
Claims involving owner-packed boxes may depend on the condition of the carton, packing method, external damage, inventory records, and applicable valuation terms. Review the written exclusions before moving day.

Storage can be included when it is available and documented in the move plan. Review the storage service for the supported options.
Yes, when the storage period, handling, inventory, price, and final delivery process are confirmed in writing.
The move plan should identify what enters storage and how it will be released for final delivery. Keep a copy of the inventory and storage documents.
Access depends on the storage arrangement. Confirm availability, notice requirements, handling charges, and prohibited items before booking.
Storage pricing may depend on volume, duration, handling, access, and final delivery. The quote should separate storage and related handling from the transportation scope.
